What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are metal posts that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Once the implants are in place, they allow us to mount replacement teeth onto them. These dental implants fuse to your jawbone after sufficient healing time. They provide stable support for artificial teeth which makes them the gold standard for tooth replacement.
How long does it take?
After placement of the dental implant, we will allow a period of 2-4 months for healing, prior to mounting any replacement teeth. This ensures proper healing and osseointegration ( fusion ) of the implant with the jawbone. Once the healing period is complete, we need about 2 weeks to mount the replacement tooth.
How much does it cost?
Implants are usually more expensive than other methods of tooth replacement, and most insurance carriers typically cover less than 10% of the fees.
