Bad Breath (Halitosis)

There are a number of possible causes for bad breath. Dry mouth, tooth decay, and eating habits to name a few. A comprehensive exam can narrow down the cause of bad breath and help formulate a treatment.

What causes Halitosis?

Halitosis is chronic bad breath caused by different factors. Some of these factors that contribute to halitosis are dry mouth, dental problems such as periodontal disease, certain medical conditions, and leftover food particles.

How do you treat Halitosis?

Halitosis can be treated in our office by having a comprehensive exam to determine the cause of the halitosis. Once a cause is determined, we can then formulate treatment accordingly. For example if the cause is determined to be dry mouth, we would recommend medications and other techniques to lessen the effects of dry mouth.

How effective are your treatments?

Halitosis can be easily treated once a cause is determined and treatments are typically very successful.

How long does it take to see results?

Results can typically be seen in as little as a few days to a few months depending on severity and treatments being rendered.

How much does it cost?

Costs can range from $0 ( improving brushing technique, eliminating or changing certain medications ) to about $300 if periodontal disease is diagnosed and a deep cleaning is necessary.

I had the greatest experience last week with Dr. Watson and her staff! I’ve had some very bad experiences with dentists and therefore hadn’t been back in years.
